Mission

The mission of Global Montessori Academy is to provide a unique educational environment to facilitate development of the whole person -- intellectually, physically, emotionally and socially. Welcome back for the New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed their Winter break.  Our Holiday program was magnificent! The children really worked hard and they did great. I am glad so many came to watch the performance. This month we will be studying the continents of Antarctica & Australia. The children will learn about the animals, climate, people, & culture of these continents.

I also want to welcome all of the new families who joined GMA this month! If you see a new face, make sure to introduce yourself and make our new families feel welcome.

The next few months may bring snow days.  Our school closes when the roads are unsafe to travel.  If KCMO School District closes due to poor road conditions, we will also close.  We use an automated calling service that will call all numbers to let you know if school is closed. We will also post our closings on FOX4, KMBC9, & KCTV5.

For the month of January, afternoon extended care will be in the Sunrise Room.  Morning Extended care remains in the Rainbow Room.

This month, we are sending home paperwork for re-enrollment for the 2012-13 school year. For all children who wish to return in the fall, Please turn in the re-enrollment documents (sent home separately) between February 1-29, 2012. Open enrollment for new families will begin on March 1st, 2012, so be sure to have your forms turned in before then to reserve your spot. Enrollment fee of $200 will be charged in March for those re-enrolling. Be aware that space is very limited for our Elementary program and applications will be accepted starting on February 1st on a first come, first served basis.

Tuesday, January 12th is our Annual Meeting of the Co-op Members.  We encourage all families to attend! This is where we vote on the annual budget and tuition. Immediately following this short business meeting, we will have a Parent Education Class, “What is Montessori Elementary?”.

Ms. Brandy will be discussing Global Montessori’s Elementary Program and answering any questions parents may have about our program. This meeting should last about 45 minutes. If you need childcare for this meeting please let us know in advance as space is very limited.

SCHOOL IS CLOSED on Monday, January 16th for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Our next Board Meeting is Tuesday, January 17th at 6:00pm in the Toddler (Peace) Room. Childcare is available for an additional fee if reserved in advance. All Parents are welcome to attend.

Here are some dates to remember for February:

  • There is NO SCHOOL on Friday, February 17th for a Teacher Planning Day.
  • SCHOOL IS CLOSED on Monday, February 20th for President’s Day.
