Toddlers

Toddlers (24-36 months) - The day begins with sitting together in a circle, singing songs and reading from the Big Book series, which are very large books dealing with a single topic; for instance, All About Snow, The Rain Forest, etc. After attendance and songs, the children move into their worktime, which for the two-year-olds is approximately 45 minutes. An "all group" diaper change/going potty is done, shoes are put on and work is put away. Snack is given out.

We have four special teachers that come in once a week in Art, Gymnastics, Spanish and Music. These teachers are specialists in their field and we contract with them to work with our children one day a week.

The children go outside for half an hour, then come in for lunch. At 12:00 noon, we change everyone's diaper/go potty then the children are ready for nap. After naptime, the children have another snack, and get ready to go outside (or stay in, depending on the weather).

Children going home begin to get picked up between 3:00 and 3:30 p.m. Those children staying for extended care continue in free playtime.

Potty training is a cooperative effort between the School and family. In this classroom are children still in diapers, children going through the process of potty training, and children already potty-trained.

Toddlers attend 3 or 4 field trips during the school year, plus a few during the summer.
